| Did you know there used to be a midwifery school in Nebraska? In the late 1800's, Omaha midwife Lena Vogel opened the Nebraska School of Midwifery. and the house where it was located is still standing. It only advertised in the city directory for two years (1898 and 1899) - and I don't know what happened to it after that. Hope to find out, though! |

Hey! Are you doing research again?
You might try going to a geneology site to see if you can find personal info on her. A lot of times, family members who've done family history research will have an ancestor's life story, and they might have all the info you're looking for about this particular topic.
Here's a link to a Vogel family forum:

This sounds really interesting! Keep us posted! _________________ Autumn F. Cook

Hi Autumn
I actually have taken the summer off from research, but I hope to dig right in when the kids start back to school. Just thought I'd share some interesting tidbits with the group. Thanks for the link. From what I've been able to determine from census records, she died fairly young - by 1910 her husband was a widower at age 46, and she was only three years older.

Hi cmonestero,
Sorry it's taken me so long to respond . . . I haven't been on in a while, but yes, I am very interested! I have my last final for the semester this Tuesday, and once I get my house cleaned & decorated for Christmas, I'll be getting back to work on this project (until next semester starts ). I'd love to learn about whatever you have! |
