I just noticed that this was never linked to here on this forum, and now is a great time to do it! The link will take you to the "DIRECTOR’S REPORT ON A PROPOSAL FOR A CHANGE IN SCOPE OF PRACTICE FOR CERTIFIED NURSE MIDWIVES AND A PROPOSAL TO LICENSE DIRECT ENTRY MIDWIVES"

http://www.hhs.state.ne.us/AdmCR/Director-both-Midwifery-DEM.pdf

This is the official report from the 407 review, which came out in complete contradiction to the '93-'94 review of the same issues, despite the addition of study upon study demonstrating the safety of OOH birth, and the establishment of an accredited credential for DEMs. Everyone should read through it because these are the precise arguments likely to be made by the Medical and Hospital Associations at committee hearings and in other legislative settings. Start working on your point-by-point rebuttals, and feel free to share them right here. It's time to brush up on our stats and facts and figures! Very Happy
